Description
This lovely piece of art has been done in fused glass by Kelly at Beau Verre Art.

Hand painted stem with two flattened murrini stacked as a flower.

Beautiful colors and movement! The colored sections start off as a “puddle”… a stack of glass melted down. The puddle is cut into smaller pieces and fired into “pebbles”. The pebbles are added onto a base glass and fired again so it’s a flat surface. Then cut into individual pieces and back in the kiln for a fire polish. That’s 4 times in the kiln!

Fused glass is the process of layering sheets or pieces of glass, sometimes adding frit (crushed glass), and firing it in a kiln until the glass melts together, sometimes doing multiple firings per item with each firing taking more than 12 hours to complete.
